Grief does not leave. It changes shape, and we learn to live alongside it.
September was a month of contrast. Between deep sadness and daily life. Between loss and laughter. Between trying to keep everything moving for my family while still learning how to exist without Peter, my father-in-law.
People say it takes time to “process.” But what does that even mean? The Dutch word ‘verwerken’ feels so final, as if there’s a point where it is done. I don’t think we ever finish processing. We just learn to give it space, to sit with it, and to keep moving forward while it sits quietly beside us.
In the middle of that, life kept going. Lunchboxes, groceries, cooking, school mornings, late nights, and a new phase for OrthoFoodie. Preparing for yet another trip, this time to New York, our sixth one this year. Each trip comes with its own kind of chaos at home, but also with purpose and growth.
September was also a reminder of why I started this journey in the first place. To make my struggles make sense for others. To turn pain into purpose. To show that health is not just what you eat but how you live, grieve, grow, and keep showing up.
